Website Design and Development
Good website design includes some of the personality of your business and showcases your products and services. You know your business needs a great website and online presence but you don't want it to cost an arm and a leg. I get it.
Your website is the hub of your online presence. When done correctly your website enables you to leverage and enhance your web presence while boosting your exposure, reputation and marketing efforts. As your online home base your website represents to the world what your business is all about.
There are many website platforms available from which to choose. The WordPress developer's platform (not to be confused with WordPress.com) is one of the most versatile when it comes to functionality and customization. WordPress has the largest piece of the website market powering 30 percent of the world's websites. WordPress websites are my preference here at Webscape Design, however other platforms are used occasionally when there are specific needs.
Like many other website development options, WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS). And if you're a web savvy do-it-yourself type who likes to be self-sufficient, you'll have the option of maintaining the website yourself. (Yep, I can teach you how to do that.) If you don't need much customization, or you have a really tight budget, there are other website platforms that may be better for you.
Mobile Friendly Responsive Design
These days a responsive website design is imperative because the majority of online searches are now performed on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets. If your website doesn't adapt to smaller screen sizes your site will not provide a good user experience. Google is all about the user experience (UX) and will penalize sites that are not mobile friendly by not ranking them as high in the search engine results.
Just Need A Website Upgrade?
Maybe you’ve been through the website design and website development process before and have a website but it’s looking outdated. Or maybe your website isn’t mobile friendly so it’s nearly impossible to read on smaller devices. You want your prospects to think you’re on top of your game, right?
You may not need an entirely new website, but it’s important that you provide a good user experience while visitors are on your site. Sometimes just making some web design and content updates to your current website is all you need to get a fresh new look that’s more welcoming and will engage your visitors.
What if your biggest problem is that your site has inadequate search engine optimization? In that case your site won't rank well so you may not get the amount of traffic you'd like to see from the internet. I incorporate basic SEO into all of the websites I build. But if you're in a competitive market, and who isn't, you may need additional on-site and off-site search engine optimization.
No website yet? Well, let’s get crackin’ and get your business online where the rest of the world lives!
The Website Design & Development Process - What to Expect
Website design involves a process through which we turn your ideas into a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing website. The general implementation process includes Planning, Building and Maintenance phases as described in summary below. Basic on-page search engine optimization is worked in during the building phase so your business gets found in searches.
PHASE 1 - PLANNING YOUR WEBSITE
I'll do research on your competition as well as determine the most appropriate keywords to bring your site the most visitors and conversions.
Once we have the website design, layout and functionality figured out, it's on to the exciting part; the building phase!
PHASE 2 – BUILDING YOUR WEBSITE
This is also when I build in basic search engine optimization to help your website get found by people searching for your products or services. Add-on search engine optimization packages are available and may be needed if your business has a lot of competition or if you want to ensure staying power with the highest possible ranking.
I’ll keep in touch with you during our weekly check-in calls to make sure we’re on the same track. And I will show you previews of the website as certain pages come alive.
PHASE 3 – MAINTAINING YOUR WEBSITE
Think of your website as a living being that needs tender loving care on a regular basis. It’s not over when the website is built and published.
Keeping your site up to date reduces its vulnerability. Maintaining your own website is an option, but most business owners don't have the time or want the responsibility. Will you know what to do if you make an update and it breaks your site?
Together we’ll go over the multitude of Care Plan options and determine the best plan for you and your website.
